Did Thor create lightning? Or did lightning create Thor?
-Magne Seier

Thor (portrayed by David Stakston) is a recurring character in the Netflix Original Series Ragnarok.

He is the almighty God of Thunder in Norse mythology, he wields the mighty magic hammer Mjölnir, and he is the son of Odin and Fjörgyn.

Hailed as the protector of humanity, Thor is traditionally known for defeating the Midgard Serpent and ending Ragnarök, facilitating rebirth for the world and humanity as a whole.

After the battle of Ragnarök, Thor was thought to have died, but he had been reincarnated as the mortal, Magne Seier.

Thor was born to the god Odin and the giantess Fjörgyn. A paragon of strength and masculine virility, he was the god of thunder, lightning, storms, weather, sky, sacred groves and trees, strength, the protection of mankind and also hallowing and fertility. He wielded a hammer named Mjölnir, that helped him control his godly powers.

As one of the mightiest gods in Norse mythology, Thor commanded the weather and the forces of nature, fought the enemies of civilization and represented law and order. Among the gods, he was known for his bravery, strength, healing powers and righteousness. He was the fiercest of warriors.

In the events of Ragnarök, Thor fought alongside his father Odin, and his fellow gods against the giants, for the fate of the world. Thor battled the Midgard serpent, Jörmungandr. Being the protector of the earth, Thor furiously fought the serpent, he struck down upon it with his hammer, Mjölnir, and he defeated it. But not before the great serpent had bit him and infected him with it's venom. As a result, Thor was only able to take nine steps afterward before he collapsed. So he was victorious in saving the world, but at a terrible cost, his life.

In the series[]

After Ragnarök, Thor was thought to have die with the rest of the gods, but he was reincarnated as the human Magne Seier.

Season 1[]

One night when Magne goes to wash his face, he sees himself as Thor in the mirror. Magne and Thor both have a strong physical resemblance to each other.

Season 2[]

Thor is mentioned and spoken of throughout most of the second season.

Thor has a strong belief in justice and a great sense of righteousness. He also has a strong sense of bravery. He is willing to save and protect anyone who is in danger. He is willing to face any foe in battle.

Thor is a tall muscular young man, has long braided blonde hair, a beard, and he has blue eyes. He appears shirtless and has a few scars and bruises on his body, but otherwise he is a strong god. He also has two line markings going down his nose. His beard is tied in two ends on his chin, and his front top hair on his forehead is tied. But Thor is supposed to have red hair and red beard and mustache. This Thor is little different from that.

Thor is the son of the god Odin and the giantess Fjörgyn. He is the stepson of Odin's wife, the goddess Frigg. As Odin's first-born son, Thor is the older brother of Baldr, Víðarr and Váli.

In the fullness of his manhood, Thor married golden-haired Sif, goddess of the Earth. With Sif, Thor had a daughter known as Þrúðr, who may have become a valkyrie. Outside his marriage, Thor had a regular lover, Járnsaxa. With his jötunn lover, Thor had a son named Magni (“strength”). He also had many casual lovers and one-night stands. At least one of these encounters produced a son, Móði (“courage”), though the boy’s mother was not identified in any surviving Norse texts.

Magne Seier[]

As Magne is Thor's reincarnation, he has all of Thor's powers, including super strength, speed, agility, the ability to influence the elements (especially thunder), and perhaps the only being who is able to lift and use Mjölnir. Thor and Magne have a strong physical resemblance to each other. Much like Thor, Magne exudes bravery and strength even in the direst of situations, while being extremely compassionate and protective of those he cares about. However, the most important trait that Magne shares with Thor is the sense of righteousness, which acts as the fulcrum for his crisis of identity throughout Season 2.

Thor is obedient, loyal and good to his father, Odin, the ruler of the Gods.
